Business Finance Fundamentals

Running a business without understanding the numbers is like driving with your eyes closed. You might get somewhere, but the journey won't be pleasant.

Our six-month program strips away the jargon and teaches you what actually matters. Cash flow management. Reading financial statements. Making decisions based on real data instead of gut feeling. We've worked with over 200 Australian businesses since 2022, and the pattern is clear: understanding your finances changes everything.

Next intake starts February 2026. Classes run Thursday evenings at our Sydney office, with online options for regional participants.

What You'll Actually Learn

We designed this program after talking to dozens of small business owners about what confuses them most. Not textbook theory. Real questions from real businesses trying to make sense of their finances.

Each module builds on practical scenarios. You'll work with sample financial statements, analyse cash flow problems, and develop forecasting skills using your own business data. By week twelve, you'll understand your financial position better than most business owners do after years of operation.

  • Financial Statement Basics

Learn to read and interpret balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and cash flow reports without needing an accounting degree.

  • Cash Flow Management

Understand why profitable businesses still fail, and how to maintain healthy working capital through seasonal changes.

  • Business Forecasting

Create realistic financial projections that help you plan growth, secure funding, and avoid nasty surprises.

  • Performance Metrics

Identify the key indicators that matter for your specific business and track them effectively.

From Past Participants

Real feedback from business owners who completed the program in 2024 and 2025

I was three years into running my cafe before I properly understood the difference between profit and cash flow. Wish I'd taken this course in year one. Would have saved me a lot of stress and at least one panicked conversation with my bank manager.

The forecasting module changed how I approach business planning. I used to guess at numbers and hope for the best. Now I can actually justify my projections to investors and feel confident about the figures I'm presenting.

How Classes Actually Work

We don't believe in death by PowerPoint. Each session starts with a real business scenario, then we work through it together. You'll spend more time doing calculations and discussing options than listening to lectures.

Classes run for two hours every Thursday evening from 6:30pm. We start on time and finish on time because everyone's busy. If you miss a session, you get access to the recording within 24 hours.

Between classes, you'll have homework. Not busywork, but practical exercises using your own business numbers. Most people spend 2-3 hours per week outside of class time. By the end, you'll have built a complete financial toolkit specific to your business.

The February 2026 intake is limited to 20 participants. We keep groups small so everyone gets individual attention. Registration closes January 15th, 2026, or when we fill up, whichever comes first.
